| Kommentar til obs.: | After much discussion this Harrier's identification has finally ended up as a 3K female Pallid Harrier after assesment of the moult by Knud Pedersen. The odd wing formular is due to a moult limit between P6 and P7. Surprisingly the bird seem to have stopped the moult of flight feathers at P6 in autumn without continuation during the winter. This is supported by moult limits in secondaries where the new generation is grown from three centers (outer, middle and inner) and by old retained juvenile outer alula (on the right wing) and some lesser coverts. Juvenile primaries are shorter than adult primaries and therefore making a different wingformular than usual, and the moult in secondaries has made an odd pattern in the arm. |
